Medovate, the Cambridge-based medical device company has been named ‘Most Innovative Medical Device Development Company’ in Eastern England in Global Health & Pharma’s (GHP) 2019 Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Awards.
The GHP awards recognise brilliance and innovation within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on organisations and individuals whose efforts help to enhance the quality of patient care. Medovate’s award was secured on the back of its track record developing and commercialising medtech solutions that have arisen from within the NHS, for the benefit of the NHS and other healthcare systems around the world.
Having achieved ISO 13485:2016 quality management certification, Medovate has established a great platform to bring medical products to market and has pressed ahead with licensing and building a portfolio of medical devices relating to its specialisms of anaesthesia, airway management, critical care and surgery.
By offering funding, expert advice and hands-on support during the critical early stages of development, Medovate plays a key role in ensuring that medtech innovations with the highest potential for patient benefit are supported through the phases of development, manufacture, clinical trials and regulatory approval.
Stuart Thomson, Managing Director, Medovate, commented:
“This accolade is testament to the wealth of experience and technical prowess of our dedicated team. In under two years we have successfully established ourselves as a trusted partner when it comes to developing new technology from and for the NHS, and this award helps put us firmly on the map.
“We don’t intend to rest on our laurels, however, and plan to bring new products to market in both the US and EU very soon. We will be launching SAFIRA, a ground-breaking regional anaesthesia device, and Humidicare, an innovative safety heat and moisture exchanger, both of which could radically enhance clinical practice and patient safety. We are attending international conferences and exhibitions such as World Airway Management Meeting (Amsterdam) and Medica (Dusseldorf), both in November 2019 to showcase these technologies. We will also continue to work with NHS inventors of exciting new technologies in our core medical speciality areas, thereby adding to our product pipeline. We are incredibly proud to have been named ‘Most Innovative Medical Device Development Company’ in Eastern England, and hope that this is a sign of more successes to come.”
